Assistant Manager Fleet Personnel

The Assistant Manager Fleet Personnel will support all crewing activities including seafarers’ employment, staffing, compensation, training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the crewing officers and executives and coordinate workload and information transfer amongst the team.
  • Ensure Seafarers are carefully screened, making sure only those fully qualified and properly STCW certified are employed
  • Manage outstanding matters regarding personnel relieves and requests
  • Support implementation of Company policy, including MLC 2006, management guidelines, software and database
  • Give support to ensure an overall control that all officers and ratings are in possession of the required qualifications, certificates, visas and documentation as per flag state, STCW and company statutory requirements, regulations and procedures
  • Ensure update and support monitoring of reporting tools related to budgets, KPI’s, training, crew related claims to P&I, engagements
  • Conduct administration of all officer appraisal reports, review and follow-up with junior officers closing our crew appraisals with vessel managers where appropriate. Ensure that every officer receives a telephone call or face to face discussion about their previous voyage, performance and career development.
  • Act as the team Marine HR partner for sea staff, forge relationships with sea staff and be the ‘go to’ contact for all employee relations matters
  • Participate in the selection of training centres and crewing department suppliers
  • Participate and provide input to monthly and annual crew and travel analysis/OPEX reports as required by Manager Fleet Personnel

 

Professional Experience

  • R/O or ETO
  • Ideally 2 years ship management experience, ideally in Crewing and proven managerial skills
  • Excellent knowledge of crewing regulations, social security and labour acts related to maritime employment and expertise in all aspects of general crewing practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and personnel databases
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
